When you think a day trip could never go wrong, think again. I guess the key lesson learned from this trip is not to plan for a day trip ever when it's a public holiday.
We finally realized that everyone would basically have the same idea of driving to Malacca for a short trip. And we ended up going from restaurants to restaurants only to find out that everything was finished. Well, you see, most of them who go to Malacca for such trip are Chinese. And the way they eat... let's not even get there. Jonker Street suddenly turned into a street of nothing but people and little room to breathe. Sticky hands and bodies just kept sticking and wiping against each other. Eeww...
But above all that, I think it's one memorable trip that I would like to do again. Not during public holidays of course. Either way, we had fun and we did some crazy stuffs to keep ourselves entertained throughout. And the things I would like to remember from the trip:
More gula melaka? -- the waitress was so busy and (because we didn't get to eat the best Cendol with lots of gula melaka) I went to the Cendol stall and came back with a bowl of gula melaka.
Not one shop is not harrassed -- from asking the waitress for her name, to offering the Portugese waitress a birthday cake. LOL... only Velvin can do that. In fact, we even harrassed tourists at Malacca River everytime a boat passed by!
It's basically OK for a man to walk around with paper fan -- My guy friends enjoyed walking (and posing) with paper fan, and people didn't really bother. Either the sun makes them blind, or they're all focusing on their hunger for food.
Singing "The Sound of Music" in the ruins of St. Paul Church -- and the priceless reactions from the other tourists. Only Velvin and Siang will do this!!!
"Yan jao mou le, yiu jao yat dui" (人就无啦,妖就一大堆) -- A Cantonese phrase we said to ourselves while we were taking photos, "can't see human, but a group of ghost"
Running away the cash, and the car -- well, basically Daniel needed to go to his friend's wedding. Because the traffic was so bad, we decided to stick around Malacca town and let him take the car, so he could return after the dinner to pick us up.
Heritage sightseeing turned to modern shopping -- the weather was so hot we decided to proceed into the mall for aircon... and started doing things we can do in KL like window shopping, eating waffles and ice-cream, Thai massage, even considered karaoke. Siang even bought something from Yokoso shop which is available in KL.
Danced to every single songs that the trishaws were blasting -- no explanation needed for this. LOL.
Jonker Street, a deadly street -- it was people all over, we practically missed almost all the stalls. If you look on your right, you would see people. If you look on your left, you would see people. Again, every single shop or stall is packed. We settled at Jonker Cafe instead.
Siang was about to explode -- possibly side effect from the massage, Jonker walk and the public performance. Gosh, that rock band was terrible and he was singing songs of similar tune. Thanks Angeline for the head massage. It really helped sustaining his head from exploding.
Siang slept at Jonker Cafe -- woke up, the band was still singing, the car didn't arrive yet, slept again, woke up, slept again...
"Active Five" works! -- Daniel came to the rescue. Thank God for the car and the paraceptamol! Siang became lively again. And he got his appetite back to enjoy the Portugese grilled fish and calamari. Woo hoo!
Birthday celebration on the Love Bridge -- Daniel and Velvin approached the bridge with a (belated) birthday cake for Me. Before they started singing, it was so windy the candle went off. Haha~ Nevertheless, everyone, please remember, that was the (renovated) bridge where Daniel and a Portugese ahem yea...
See... sometimes it don't really matter where you go, but you will definitely enjoy the trip with the right companion.
Love you guys err gals err guys ... Whatever. XOXOXOXOssss. Haha.
